From the minute I met Jeff Black, I felt comfortable that my boat, an Oyster 56 named Amazing, would be in capable hands. Even though I didn't meet his crew until much later, I knew Jeff would only employ mates he trusted wholeheartedly. Upon meeting Kara, I was sorry that I was not going along for the sail home. The two of them knew more about my boat in twenty four hours than I knew after an entire year aboard.
Safety is the first and foremost issue on any crossing. Even though I prepared the boat to my standard, Jeff reviewed and made some appreciated tweaks. Kara took immediately to the ship's computer to make sure sattelite internet, nav systems, inventory control, and maintenance records were all in order. We were forced to wait a week for favorable weather conditions which turned out to be the only added expense of the trip. Otherwise, Jeff and crew brought the boat from St. Thomas to Stamford, Ct. in ten days, on time and within ten percent of budget. Every other day, I was informed of the boat's position and any problems (all minor, thankfully). Upon arrival, Jeff gave me a concise list of items needing attention and went over them till I felt I completely understood. I will definitely use his services again and recommend him highly. Truly, Tom s/v Amazing |
